A Look Into Genres
Picture

The Process

Step 1
Begin by getting into your assigned group which will be your home team. Each group of five will need to research the genre you have been assigned (fairy tale, fable, fantasy, or mystery). Each group will explore their assigned genre by using the resources I have provided. Use the cluster word web graphic organizer to record your findings.

Step 2
After researching your genre your team will become experts on the assigned genre and make a PowerPoint slide for the class that teaches them what your team has learned about your genre. Each group will take notes while the presenting group teaches. It is important that each group learns and writes down information about each genre type on the four column graphic organizer.

Step 3
After you've acquired as much knowledge as possible about each type of genre you will start to work independently on your writing piece. You will use the story planning graphic organizer to start planning your story. You will have to choose which genre you will use when writing. After your story has been published, it will be turned into a digital story. Remember your digital stories will be showcased at the Spring Parent Night.
